Summer is here and that has us thinking about all of the great beach reads we are trying to get our hands on during those somewhat elusive relaxing moments. If reading is your outlet as well, consider giving a few of these reads a try. These books top our list for a variety of reasons, but mostly we love how they easy they are to understand, how the authors write in a very conversational way, and how they motivate us to grab the reins of our own financial lives.
Ready to feel empowered, more informed, and dare we say…excited about your finances?? Then get reading, girlfriend!

If we could double-tap a book and give it all the likes in the world, we would do so for this one. This easy to read, easy to understand book is one we’ve personally given out to so many of our female clients. David does a wonderful job of explaining complex financial topics in a way that is not only easy to understand, but manages to get you motivated to do something about your finances. He incorporates an 8-step approach to learning about and taking action on your finances, and tailors the content for a female audience. If you are in a relationship, we recommend his other book by a similar name: Smart Couples Finish Rich. This book will have you confident enough to talk to your partner about money, and will help you navigate some of those more elaborate financial conversations. Pick up either (or both!) of these reads and you’ll be well on your way to feeling significantly more educated about the financial world.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad (Robert Kiyosaki)

Robert’s Rich Dad, Poor Dad has a very strong following and is well-loved by many readers. The book does a great job of also taking complex topics and relaying them in a very relatable way. Robert also uses many examples and stories throughout the book to provide perspective on how to approach finances, and consequently, life. Perhaps the biggest lesson the book offers is on how to think through and overcome your own personal barriers to success. Robert makes the point that sometimes, just by reframing our mindset to be more solutions-oriented, we can be more successful.

Eleanor Blayney does a fantastic job of explaining how and why women are unique, and ultimately, how women can and should invest in their futures. It’s a quick read, and very informative.

Jen Sincero is a very funny, relatable author who draws upon her own experiences to teach her readers various lessons. We enjoyed this book and her other book by a similar name, because she does such a great job bringing real-world advice in a meaningful way. Give either of her books a read if you need a pep talk, want to feel understood, and/or ultimately want that “push” you’ve been needing.
